My friend is named Beatrix but we call her Bee
And she’s growing all kinds of bush, vine and tree
Dancing with butterflies, jarring hon-ey
In her food garden, at number seventy three
This book is peaceful, and cheerful, and fun.
Bee told me this book is her number one.
Printed with care so the ink will not run

The Food Garden At Number Seventy three was my first book to be fully realised, and – I think – is the quintessential Blue Feather Book. It’s about a peaceful rainforest food garden where you can find all kinds of fantastic fruits and voracious vegetables. I wrote this poem shortly after moving to Malanda, in the Atherton Tablelands, and it evokes in me a feeling of peace and plenty that I want to share with my kids and yours.
This edition of the book is a softcover, perfect bound (which means it has like a squared off spine as opposed to a folded over spine) and is roughly A4 in size. Inner pages are 110 GSM so the book has a high quality feel to it.
